We take part in ICEX Global Open Innovation 2026 in Bilbao
Ormazabal’s Innovation team is taking part in ICEX Global Open Innovation 2026, the strategic training and support programme to be held in Bilbao between 20 April and 5 June 2026. This initiative is designed to strengthen, at senior management and innovation team level, the design of open innovation models that enable the structured and sustainable integration of external talent, technologies, and solutions. As part of this programme, delivered in collaboration with Ieteam, we will follow a work itinerary combining in‑person sessions and tailored one‑to‑one support, focused on identifying and prioritising challenges, connecting with startup ecosystems, and defining a practical roadmap to drive collaborative projects with a direct impact on our competitiveness.

Open doors to innovation: international startup mission at Ormazabal
Through Ormazabal Startup Switch, we opened our facilities to the international startup mission from the energy sector promoted by BAT Accelerator Tower, where we shared how our expertise in electrical networks and power distribution can serve as a bridge between innovation and its industrial application. During the visit, we presented our technological and industrial capabilities and discussed the challenges faced by other companies in the sector, with the aim of exploring concrete collaboration opportunities to accelerate the energy transition. We are firmly convinced that connecting international talent with leading industrial companies in the region is the most effective way to transform disruptive ideas into solutions with a tangible impact on the grid.

We launch the virtual assistant LuzIA to optimise internal support
We have implemented the virtual assistant LuzIA, a solution developed by ChatBot Chocolate, aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of responses provided by the Human Capital function to frequent employee queries. LuzIA delivers secure, predefined answers on collective topics such as the working calendar, leave, and licences, reducing operational workload and enhancing the employee experience. The assistant has already been validated through a proof of concept at Uniblok, involving more than 200 employees working across three shifts, where we have observed significant time savings with each use. As next steps, we will gather feedback from employees, managers, and the Human Capital team in order to assess its potential rollout across other organisations within the group.
